Fast Food Farm
The St. James Parish Ag Day Fast Food Farm gives local students in the parish the opportunity to learn where their food comes from through interactive activities. The students visited booths covering a range of topics, from the importance of eating fruits and vegetables to pollination, aquaponics and healthy cooking. They also learned about ecosystems, how plants grow and livestock through a farm animal petting zoo. Koch Methanol St. James manned four booths and provided each of the schools a hydroponic kit for the students to plant at their school. The teachers and the students were very enjoyed the hands-on project for their classroom.
Keep St. James Parish Beautiful
Keep St. James Beautiful hosted their annual clean-up day as part of Earth Day and Love the Boot Week. Several Koch Methanol St. James employees volunteered to pick up litter throughout the parish. Together, volunteers collected more than 100 bags of garbage, 2 loads of shingles, 146 used tires, 2 sofas and 10 bags of recyclables throughout the parish. Koch Methanol St. James donated reusable water bottles for the volunteers.
ACE Banquet
Koch Methanol St. James once again sponsored the St. James High School Academic Champions in Education (ACE). This program is designed to foster academic excellence among the students at St. James High School and the awards program recognizes students who achieve academically. Josh Wiggins helped present the awards and encourage the students to continue to excel.
